Danda's B-day Party

Danda decided to celebrate her b-day this year at Senzala, a Brazilian restaurant located in Sunnyvale. It was a great idea! The kids had lots of space to run, the food was really yummy, and there was even a live band! Lucas had a blast! In fact, this event was not only to celebrate her b-day, but also to say goodbye to their family, who is going back to Brazil. We wish Danda, Adriano and Diego good luck and success in the busy city of Sao Paulo.   

Esse ano a Danda resolveu comemorar o aniversario dela no Senzala, um restaurante brasileiro que fica em Sunnyvale. Foi uma otima ideia! As criancas tinham bastante espaco para correr, a comida de la' e' super gostosa e ainda tinha uma banda tocando musica ao vivo! Lucas se esbaldou! Na verdade, esse evento foi mais que uma comemoracao do aniversario dela, foi tambem uma despedida que a familia dela esta' voltando para o Brasil. Desejamos a Danda, ao Adriano e ao Diego muita sorte e sucesso na agitada cidade de Sao Paulo.

Surprise Baby Shower

By being on maternity leave, I was no longer seeing my friends from work every day. So, we decided to have a brunch at my house to catch up.  What was supposed to be a harmless get together turned out to be a surprise baby shower. They brought the supplies to decorate the house, the table, and gifts for the baby. It was very nice of them to do this and I really appreciated it! Thanks! I miss you guys...

Por estar de licenca-maternidade, eu nao tenho mais visto meus amigos de trabalho diariamente. Entao, decidimos fazer um brunch aqui em casa para que a gente pudesse se encontrar. O que deveria ser um simples encontro acabou se tornando um cha' de bebe surpresa. Eles trouxeram items de decoracao e presentes para o bebe. Foi muito legal da parte deles de ter organizado esse evento, obrigada! Saudades de voces...

Transition to Toddler Bed

We decided it was time for Lucas to transition from the crib to the toddler bed. We were so wrong!!! He hated sleeping on the bed - I guess it was not making him as secure and comfy as the crib does - on top of the fact that he just could not be on it. Since he rolls a lot in the middle of the night, he would always fall. At the beginning, he used to cry but, at the end, he gave up and was sleeping on the floor. It was also a hassle because since he was "free" from the crib and able to move around by himself, he would just not stay there. OK, we really tried...but there was no way to make Lucas sleep at the toddler bed! So, we put the crib back...

Nos decidimos que estava na hora de trocar o berco do Lucas por uma caminha de crianca. Nos estavamos muito enganados!! Ele detestou dormir na caminha - acho que o berco traz uma sensacao de conforto e seguranca que nao existe com a cama - alem de nao conseguir parar em cima dela. Como o Lucas se mexe muito a noite, ele sempre caia da cama. No comeco ele chorava, mas depois ele simplesmente desistiu e passou a dormir no chao mesmo. Tambem foi uma novela porque ele passou a estar livre na cama, o que nao acontecia no berco. Entao, como ele nao queria ficar la' ele simplesmente se levantava e ia fazer qualquer outra coisa. Bem, nos tentamos, mas nao teve jeito de fazer com que o Lucas dormisse na cama. Entao, colocamos o berco de volta...

Barnes & Noble

What to do with a kid on a winter rainy day? No way to stay at home all day long! We decided to go to Barnes & Noble so Lucas could entertain himself with some books and toys different from the ones he has at home. It would also be an opportunity to play with other kids. He ended up having lots of fun! He was really concentrated playing with the train!

O que fazer com uma crianca num dia chuvoso de inverno? Ficar em casa e' que nao da'! Entao fomos na Barnes & Noble para que o Lucas mudasse um pouco de ambiente e pudesse brincar com outras criancas e brinquedos diferentes. Ele adorou! Estava tao entretido brincando com o tremzinho que estava ate' serio.

Happy New Year!

We went to the Ritz Carlton in Half Moon Bay to celebrate the New Year - we had brunch there on the 1st day of 2008! It was so yummy! We hope this will be a good year for us so we can go there more often ;)

Fomos comer um brunch no Ritz Carlton em Half Moon Bay no primeiro dia de 2008 para comemorar o Ano Novo. Estava tao gostoso! Espero que este seja um bom ano para a gente, para que possamos ir la' com mais frequencia ;)
